The authors argue that the foreskin is a “lip” (based on the notion of skin over mucosa) and is therefore an organ (in this case, a sexual organ that benefits sexual pleasure in men). They argue that removal of the foreskin, like removal of the clitoris, results in an impoverished sexual life, and is done to prevent infantile sexuality.

There is absolutely NO evidence in well-controlled studies (that are, rather self-servingly, NOT cited by the authors) to show an impoverishment of sexual life in circumcised men, regardless of culture and ethnicity. In fact, there is some self-reported evidence of an increase in sensitivity following adult circumcision, although this is not always replicated. There is NO evidence that circumcision prevents erections in preadolescent boys, prevents masturbation, or any other kind of sexual behavior. There is also evidence accruing that the foreskin is a conduit for sexually transmitted infections, and rates of STIs is lower in circumcised men. Finally, removal of the foreskin is not analogous to removal of the clitoris. The male homology of clitorectomy would be removal of the glans penis.

Reading between the lines, it is clear that this is a political statement against circumcision masquerading as a medical definition of the foreskin as an organ. Although the authors’ pain and outrage are obvious, I really do not empathize. So what if the foreskin is a lip? Their deeper argument that its removal impoverishes the sexual lives of men does not rest on any solid scientific foundation."

Le "So what if the foreskin is a lip?" est particulièrement savoureux du trouble d'un circoncis qui dénie sa propre perte de façon éhontée. Davantage de mauvaise foi, je meurs ! Ce médecin, quasi-certainement juif, comme le rédacteur en chef de la revue, ne peut imaginer que quelqu'un pourrait prendre la défense des enfants par pure compassion. Nous sommes en présence d'un exemple typique de "la condition paranoïaque juive" décrite par le docteur Claude Olievenstein. Il n'a fait que projeter sur moi la raison politique majeure pour laquelle il circoncit : s'assurer la possession de la terre de Canaan". C'est bien de la politique ; de la politique contre la science !
